Hops is a plant most commonly known as an ingredient in beer. Hops vines grow rampantly on the outskirts of the medieval village I live in, climbing brambles and plum trees and stone bridges. I imagine they were once planted for brewing and medicine. For this oil, I harvested hops from the vine growing in my garden (organic).
Their strobiles ("flowers", soft cones) are bitter and have a bright, citrusy aroma (think IPA beer). In folk herbalism, hops has many uses: as a bitter to help digestion, as a sedative, and to help insomnia.
This whole plant infused oil can be applied before bed for deep relaxation and for insomnia (rub into the soles of the feet, pressure points, temples...). It can be applied to sore muscles, before getting into a relaxation bath, on the abdomen for menstrual cramps, on the neck for tension headaches...
